About That (Unplanned) Absence

Well, that was a week-long blog vacation I didn’t intend on taking, and the first absence I’ve had when I wasn’t swooning around on vacation. It’s funny, I never knew how much I needed this blog until I suddenly…didn’t. For four years, this blog was my creative outlet, a respite from the grinding unhappiness of a day job that left me unfulfilled. I needed it, because I needed a balance, and at the peak of my blogging I was posting five times a week (!! five! What on earth did I write about??). Then it went down to three. And in the three months since I left my job, I’m lucky if I can manage to crank out one measly post a week. Isn’t it strange that now that I have more time on my hands, I somehow have less time to blog? My days are filled with writing, and food-styling, and studying for my real estate license (and exercising my domesticity/ perfecting my housewife status). When I am happy in my day-to-day, I turn less and less to the internet, this blog, my Pinterest boards, and other aspirational escapes. I haven’t been tending to my blog because I haven’t needed it to stay afloat, to keep my head above water. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still owe this space (and you guys!) some attention, because of course I do. I just need to find a different balance than what I had for so long, and I promise I’ll do that without abandoning it for days at a time. Pinky promise, kiddos!

Here’s a little update of what’s been going on behind the scenes:

Life Lately

I miss you guys! How the hell are you?

  1. Missed you but keeping up to date with what’s going on via Twitter and IG (not stalking, I swear). Yes to men’s clothing and I need more recommendations of where to shop in the men’s section… I grabbed a few men’s sweaters from Urban Outfitters last season

    1. It’s not stalking if we’re friends on both platforms ;) Promise! Uniqlo has a great selection of mens clothing that, I guess because of the way things are cut, are perfectly unisex in my opinion. I don’t like that women’s button down shirts are tucked in at the waist, I prefer a straight cut. Ergo, men’s clothing! xo

  2. I feel like a lot of bloggers have been taking breaks lately, so you’re certainly not alone. You sound like you’re having so much fun these days – I want to know more about the food styling!

    1. That seems to be a general trend I’m noticing. I hope it doesn’t mean blogging is dead and gone! I do still want to keep up with it, it’s been such a big part of my life these last few years! xo

  3. it’s sad, but I think most of us are on our way out. and not necessarily only because we have other things to keep us afloat. it’s the instant gratification and zero attention requirements that lure most everyone to Instagram and Twitter. until we get fed up with the superficiality of that and move on to whatever comes next… I hope you stick around for a little longer. I hope i will. but I’m not sure about either of us… xo

    1. I think I’ll stick around for a while longer. I have some fun trips coming up (Paris, Paris again, Spain) that I do want a place to share photos and stories, if not for other people than at least for myself so I can have a record of it. xo
