Weekend in Pictures

I would like to formally request that every weekend be a 4-day weekend, please and thank you. By the time Saturday rolled around, I was so delightfully disoriented and confused as to what day it was from spending the previous two days off, that I almost burst into tears when I found out I still had one more day before Monday. Incredible!

As we’ve done for the past few years, every July 4th Jamal and I have a picnic at his alma mater, with Fitz in tow. I didn’t snap any shots of us spread out on our blanket with our sandwiches and fruit, mostly because it was approximately a billion degrees and we didn’t stay long. Fitz, however, was beyond excited. Look at that face! Friday, as part of my anniversary present to him, Jamal and I went on a 2 hour tour of the Phillies stadium and got to wander the park and the field (unfortunately, we weren’t able to tour the locker room, but I was totally hoping for some player encounters). That night we went out for drinks at a rooftop bar, dinner at our favorite Italian place, and an impromptu comedy show featuring Kevin Nealon. We were exhausted by the time we got home after midnight, but in the best way possible. Have I mentioned before that I love this guy? He’s my favorite. (Jamal, not Kevin Nealon.)

Tomorrow: photos from our museum date on Saturday!

  1. Look how smiley Fitz is! The very opposite of my dogs this weekend! ;) I won’t mention this to them. Ahem. Your weekend sounds great, although I can’t talk about it to anybody…Cal can’t hear about that CBP tour either dammit. Try to have some fun I can’t talk about next time, okay? My boy and my dogs want to know!

      1. Haha, I knew what you meant! Next time you guys come we’ll do another tour. It was dirt cheap and 2 hours long, I totally recommend it! Don’t tell Cal until it’s definite, though, so he won’t hate me out of jealousy! xo

    1. Right?? I woke up on Monday and thought about quitting my job. I had too much fun staying home. xo

  2. that picture is so cute it melts my little heart. he. looks. so. happy! the look on fitz’s face is the same look i imagine on yours right before you started crying about it being only saturday.

what a lovely weekend! we ended up just being lazy most of the weekend as fisher somehow, somewhere got a cold and has had a fever all weekend. xoxo

    1. Haha, you know me so well ;) I make that face a lot, actually, so I know where Fitz gets it from. His thought process must have been, “We’re going OUT?! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!”

I’m so sorry Fisher is sick! Hope he gets better soon! xo

  3. Your weekend sounds lovely, four days weekends are the best. Mind you it’s always weekend for me but I am missing the excitement of a Friday night/or Wednesday night in this case. x

    1. Oooh now I’m jealous! My mom says something similar whenever I say how excited I am about Saturday, since she’s retired. Rub it in why don’t you! xo

  4. Well done, you two. What a wonderful way to celebrate your anniversary. The long weekend treated you very well! The excitement you felt at waking on Saturday and realizing you had one more day off was palpable, as is Fitz’ expression. Cute!

    1. Haha, thanks darling! We like having little customs like this, picnics for our anniversary, a specific restaurant before we pick up our Christmas tree, fondue on Valentine’s Day, etc. Habits make me happy! xo

  5. It has been a billion degrees here too- so hot! I just love a baseball game- such a fun thing to do in the summer time. Happy Anniversary- sounds like it was extra special with all TLC touches :)

    1. I know it’s summer and everything, but geez. Where are my 65 degree days? I love winter the most, but that’s because I’m weird. :) We didn’t end up staying for the game, but I’m okay with that, it was way too hot! xo

    1. Oh yay we’re anniversary twins! At least until next year, when our anniversary will change from July to September (is it true you can’t keep your dating anniversary once you get married? I like ours!). xo

      1. We are celebrating, at least most years, both anniversaries. We can’t say no to any reason to celebrate ;)

  6. Yes, to having a four day weekend every week, even a three day weekend would be nice. I wouldn’t mind cramming more work into the remaining work days. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Your 4th of July tradition sounds fun and the tour of the Phillies stadium as well. You two are very thoughtful anniversary gift givers. The next long weekend will be labor day but I am not counting down the time to that one because I don’t want the summer to end ;)

    1. The neat thing about my job is that I could take every Friday off if I wanted, as we have the ability to flex schedule our hours. Meaning I could work 10 hours days Mon-Thurs and take off on Friday without taking any vacation time. Of course, it’s hard enough working 9s, and I’m simply too lazy in the morning to squeeze that extra hour in. :) xo
