Happy Town in France

You may remember my total adoration of artist Matte Stephens’ work (see here) so it will please you to know I am now the proud owner of one of his fabulous prints. I’m doubly excited because this particular one is called “Happy Town in France.” I mean, come on. The colors are so much more vibrant and cheery than this picture suggests. The print arrived wonderfully packed with a sweet handwritten note from Matte last week, and this weekend I finally found the perfect frame for it. Now I just have to find the perfect spot to hang it, but I can’t stop snuggling it long enough. I love how whimsical and sweet his work is, and I’m afraid this print is kind of like a gateway drug; I need more of them, now.

Valentine’s Day is swiftly approaching, so if you’re looking for the perfect, original gift for someone special (or yourself!), definitely check out Matte’s shop. This one would make such a romantic present.

  1. Good on you, girlie! It’s gorgeous and perfect for you! Are you sure you shouldn’t keep it there? I love how the red is pulled out with the red in the clock. Just sayin’. I think I need to come and stay in that room someday! ;)

    1. It might very well stay in that room, but that spot is where I have a Jules Cheret framed print, and it’s bigger and fits the space better. You’ll see for yourself one day!! xoxo

    1. Top and tail! You could have a sleepover together but you’d have to make room for me. I would feel left out down the hall! xo

  2. For some odd reason, it reminds me of the circuitous walk I took to get you benadryl in Quebec when you had a dinosaur egg on your knee from a mosquito bite. My sense of direction wouldn’t allow me to believe your father’s directions that by simply taking the funicular, I’d be at the pharmacie.

  3. i thought there might be a print in your future, i am glad you got one! and with a note even better. i think it looks really lovely right where it is. like lauren said the clock goes so nicely with it and i think the vase does too. happy, happy! xoxo

    1. The note was simple and yet so, so sweet. And, like most artists, his handwriting is fab! I’m totally smitten with the print, can’t you tell?? xoxo

    1. Teehee, I’m pretty awful at subtlety, it’s not my forte. I think a wink would turn into a violent shove, haha. xoxo

    1. Haha, yeah, that’s definitely Matte’s signature style. Whimsy and wonky, my favorite. I think I might buy the Mon Oncle print! It’s too perfect not to have. xoxo
