Wedding Bells

Well, those eighteen months went a lot faster than I thought they would. Here we are, on the eve of our nuptials. Every detail I’m capable of attending to has been attended to, but I’m sure the day will throw some surprise curve balls at us (rain!). I’m taking everything as it comes, and will try to be present and enjoy every single second, because everyone who has been through this machine before has said it’s over in a flash. Oh, and I’ll be trying not to feel too uncomfortable when everyone stares at me. Related: have you ever been to a wedding where the bride passes out from too much attention?

I’ll hopefully be back here on Monday, with maybe some sneak peek photos from our photographer or shots of the day from various sources. If I don’t check in immediately, forgive me, it’s nothing personal. It’s just that I’ll be eating everything fatty and sugar-coated within a ten mile radius to make up for all the ‘dieting’ I did leading up to tomorrow. Once I’ve got a husband, I can totally let myself go, right? DONUTS.

  1. Squeeeee… so exciting. :) I love weddings. But, I too suffer from the “why is everyone looking at MEEEEE” syndrome that you fear. Fear not. Look outward and focus on JAMAL and everyone around you who is there just to celebrate with you, and it’ll be fine. Let go. You’ll be glad you did.

Side note, there’s a nightmare wedding photographer in my photo group and *she’s* getting married. She’s having to pick her wedding photographer, but of course no one is as FABULOUS as she is! This has been a fun process to watch. She may end up taking her own pictures! Pro tip: don’t do that! ;)

  2. GAH I’m excited for you guys! Congratulations in advance of the actual wedding and please do make sure to eat ALL the food and all the carbs for me

    1. Thank you lovely!! I ate SO. MUCH. FOOD. immediately following the ceremony – present. Nailing this whole marriage thing so far ;) xo

  3. Best wishes, for a lovely day, all round…

And at last! -clapping hands- Photos of the handsome groom.

Wrapping you both, with lots and lots of gentle hugs,

  4. very exciting! i will be there in spirit covering everyone’s eyes so they can’t stare at you. (that is the one reason i never had any interest at all in a big wedding. all that staring. eek.). but it will be so fast and you are going to be so beautiful and, really, the only person you will probably be focused on is jamal. the rest will likely just fade away into the blurry background. good luck! congrats! love and well wishes twinsies! xoxo

    1. I wish you were there for real! And I think you totally lived up to your promise, because I swear I didn’t see anyone during the ceremony. No one! The whole room was a blur except for Jamal. It was just as you wished :) xoxo

  5. Have a wonderful weekend!!!

I haven’t heard of brides (or guests) passing out from anything other than not eating enough – so make sure you have a big breakfast and sneak some donuts for the photos

    1. I went to a wedding once where a groomsmen fainted right at the end of the ceremony, so thankfully his plank-fall was obscured by everyone standing up and clapping for the bride and groom. Still scary! Everyone, Jamal & me included, made it through the whole day without feeling woozy! Whew :) xo

  7. Wishing you lots of love and beautiful poignant moments for tomorrow. I’ll be thinking of you. My tip is to have a little tipple before you leave the confines of your room to go do the deed, then you’ll not even notice everybody looking at you, as of course they will. You are the bride after all ;) Much love xx

    1. Haha a “little tipple” turned into something like two bottles of champagne split amongst my four bridesmaids and I. Oops ;) And I didn’t see a single face in the crowd as we walked down the aisle. It was the strangest thing, it was all a blur! xoxo

  8. SO SO SO SO SO (sorry for the caps lock but now that I see it it’s appropriate) excited for you! You’re going to be radiant and the day is going to be lovely and you’re going to be married at the end of it and have delicious leftovers. All your readers are going to be sending you love from around the globe! xoxoxoxo

  9. Hey have the best day! I know you will. I was nervous and hated everyone looking at me but once you start staying your vows you forget it and then after than you’re just excited and everyone gets drunk and is less interested in you :)
Can’t wait to see some photos, I’m hoping Miss Lauren will be ‘gramming one ;)
Will be thinking of you xx

    1. You were so right :) I was surprisingly less nervous than I thought I’d be, and people kept telling me I seemed so relaxed. Could’ve been all the champagne, haha. It was such a wonderful day, though, and I’d do it again in an instant. xo

  10. YAY! Trust me its a stressful day but you get lots of presents and lots of compliments- What more do you need?

On a side note- even though weddings are what they are. marriage is one of the best things ever. like ever. This is just a start to a new chapter with loads of new adventures and making beautiful memories.

PS Can’t wait to see photos.

    1. Thank you, Erika!! It was a wonderful day. I’m still processing everything, but it was just perfect. We didn’t register for anything, but the compliments and amount of love in that room was out of this world!!

I’m so excited for the rest of the adventures now! The wedding was the easy part, now comes the real fun :) xo

    1. Thank you, Lila!! I adore the rain, gray skies and all, and was secretly excited when we woke up Saturday and the skies quickly changed. The light couldn’t be beat! Though to be honest, it would have been a lovely day even if there had been a hurricane. xo

  11. So happy for you! These photos are lovely and I can’t wait to see the ones from the wedding. Trust me, you’ll love the attention because it’s coming from family and friends who are just as existed for this new chapter in your life as you; it’s never as scary as it seems (this come from a habitual introvert).

P.S. Please enjoy a scrumptious blueberry cake donut from Dunkin’ Donuts for me—if that’s where your headed!

    1. From one introvert to another, you were right!! And because we kept the wedding so small (under 90 people!) it didn’t feel too scary or overwhelming, because we knew and loved every person there. It was amazing.

I will have to try a blueberry cake donut next time! I went yesterday morning and had my old stand-by: sugar-covered jelly filled. Noms. xo

  12. Good luck for the big day!
I’m so excited for you :) It’s not an experience I expect to ever have, so I’m excited to see your pictures and reflections!
    Wishing you happiness xx

    1. Thank you so much, Lauren! Having come through the other side now, and having been sort of (okay, a lot) anti-wedding beforehand, I can safely say it’s an experience I wish everyone could have. So much love and joy. xoxo

  13. Hooray!! It’s almost here!

I don’t know what your ceremony is going to be like, but if it helps, I didn’t really notice the other people during ours and we had a lot of people there. Lots that we didn’t know. I think that you’re going to be so happy, everyone around you and your future groom is going to be a giant blur. But even if you do notice the other people, they’re only there because they’re happy for you so you won’t feel gawked at.

I can’t wait to see pictures!!

    1. Yay! Thank you, Sabina. You were right! I didn’t see anyone other than J during the ceremony. It was all a big, glow-y blur. Whew. Pictures are up!! xo

  14. yeay! so excited and happy for you. enjoy the celebration, i’m sure it will be beautiful and i can’t wait to read/see all about it. all the best!!

  15. Yay! It’s finally time! Enjoy every single moment!
And then enjoy all the donuts, and ice cream, and cookies, and bacon, because, girl…. you deserve it!

    1. Haha I have been inhaling everything around me ever since the wedding! We ended up with a TON of leftover cake, which has been the best part of all of this. (Kidding! But it’s a close second, at least!) xoxo

    1. Thank you, Charlotte!! It was really, truly incredible! Don’t know why I fought it for so long ;) And yes, donut fest is happening in a big way!! xo
