Happy Valentine’s Day

I’m not usually overly personal on here, but I couldn’t let to today pass without wishing a very happy Valentine’s Day to Jamal. Thank you for being the best travel companion, for knowing just what to say when I’m lost in an anxiety spiral, for always volunteering to take Fitz out in the rain, for supporting me always in all ways, and for being funny even (especially) when you don’t think you are. I love you!

“You belong to me and all Paris belongs to me and I belong to this notebook and this pencil.”

Ernest Hemingway

Er, that quote is kind of romantic, right? Happy Valentine’s Day, kiddos. Je vous adore.

  1. what an awesome photo, i love it. so sweet and i love all the reason you gave for loving jamal (and i am sure there tons are more) but they are just so real and the stuff that matters. laughter, traveling and taking the dog out in a rain. good man you have. and that quote is absolutely romantic. happy v-day! xo

    1. Aw, thanks girl! There are, of course, many (many many) more reasons I could have included, but I thought I’d keep the mushy gushy stuff to a minimum :) xo

  2. As a mother (and your mother at that), I could not have designed a more perfect person for you. Jamal is kind, gentle, loving, affectionate, calming, bright, and tolerant. He makes you happy. That makes me happy.
Love to you both on Valentine’s Day and every single day.

    1. Haha, I have no part in making the fondue, that’s all J. Short recipe: dry white wine, and a TON of Gruyere and Emmentaler cheese. We have a fondue pot that makes it easier, though he does prep everything in a big pot on the stove first. It goes without saying it is ridiculously delicious. xo

    1. Aahaha, yes! The cafe is right next to the Eiffel Tower, so naturally they’re catering to tourists :) xo
