Christmas Tunes

Happy Christmas Eve! Rounding out our month of Tuesday Christmas Tunes (weeks 1, 2, and 3) I thought it was time to share some Charlie Brown cheer. And by cheer, I mean deep childhood existentialism:

“I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I’m not happy. I don’t feel the way I’m supposed to feel. I just don’t understand Christmas, I guess. I like getting presents, and sending Christmas cards, and decorating the tree and all that, but I’m still not happy.”

Oh, Charlie Brown! I adored the Peanuts gang growing up (who didn’t?) but maybe I would have been spared a lot of melodrama and angst if someone had just slipped Charlie Brown a Prozac in his egg nog?

I’m wishing you all a wonderful, cheerful holiday. May you all spend the day with loved ones and cuddly sweaters and hot cocoa and only the smallest bit of Christmas depression. Love you, kiddos!

  1. Christmas depression? Who has time for that? Full on Christmas panic, here. Taking my parents to the mall today. One at a time. Dad first, then my mom. And then the wrapping. Good lord, the wrapping. But I will get a manicure. Because I deserve it. Merry, merry, my dear. XO

    1. You were like a mall shuttle! I can’t imagine a more hectic place to be than the mall on Christmas eve, girl. You are a trooper! A manicure was a well-deserved reward. Hope you had a wonderful holiday week, lovely! xo

  2. That is EXACTLY what I thought about the Charlie Brown Christmas. May you have no sadness in your holiday celebration and only lots of singing and celebrating

    1. Haha, it’s one of those things you never notice as a kid really! My holiday was perfect, I hope yours was too!! xo

  3. poor charlie, he really did have an undiagnosed case of depression didn’t he? well, at least he was self-aware that’s the first step.

somehow my morning is going to be a little like every other morning but them it’s on from there – for the next 48 hours after that we will be in full merriment mode. i hope you have the most wonderful of holidays and merriest of christmases. xo

    1. Admitting you have a problem is the first step! There is a marathon of Charlie Brown holiday specials on ABC tonight at 8pm, if you’re interested ;)

Full on merriment mode sounds awesome! Just what you needed for the holiday. It sounds like your Christmas (and the boys’!) was delightful. Missed you, twinsy. xo

  4. Merry Christmas to you sunshine- I know what you mean – I sometimes think we’ve all forgotten the meaning of Christmas sometimes when it’s more important to find a present for the sake of it, than the right one for a “just because” reason :) xxx

    1. Thank you, Suzzy! The present-buying insanity overwhelms the season, when in reality gifts are totally secondary! Hope your holiday was perfect. xo

  5. Happy Christmas! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday and I always thought Christmas is the best day to cuddle up with a cozy book or a delicious movie. :)

So my mother in law is Paris Christmas crazy and we went over their for Christmas eve and I have never seen so many large and mini Eiffel Towers all in one place.. and some lit up and had snow.. too funny.

    1. Thank you, Erika!! I hope your holiday was magical and you all got spoiled rotten with presents and quality family time! It sounds like your mother-in-law and I would hit it off wonderfully ;) I’ve always wanted to go to Paris for Christmas! Though I suppose a collection of Christmas-themed Eiffel Towers would do. xo

  6. oh, I love Charlie Brown :) wishing you a merry christmas and a fabulous time with your loved ones. Christmas, for me, is over already. the main day for us is Christmas Eve and I spent it with some Italian friends in a very un-christmassy but fun fashion, so I can’t complain. xoxo

    1. Thank you, Petra! I always forget that a lot of the rest of the world celebrates on the 24th! Un-Christmassy is sometimes just as fun, and it sounds like yours was! xo
