Dusting off the ole Photography degree, thanks to a $4 bouquet of Alstroemerias from Trader Joe’s. They bloomed beautifully, and on my day off yesterday (when I should have been writing…) I took advantage of the afternoon light. The house was dark, all the lights were off, and I remembered why I loved my 50mm lens. And cheap flowers. Treat yo self.

  • Glad to see the Degree come out of the closet. Gorgeous photos. I want to use exclamation points, but your column frowns on them…………….

    • Well, sometimes exclamation points are acceptable :) xo

  • Definitely treat yourself. Those are absolutely stunning.

    • For $4 I couldn’t say no :) Technically they were for Jamal, but I’m more into them than he is, haha. xo

  • oooo, these are beautiful. the light was just absolutely perfect. the flowers look so pretty and i am pretty sure one of my favorite things in the world is spot on negative space. xo

    • Ooh, thanks doll! Negative space is really fun, haha. I’m glad I’m not the only one who appreciates it! xo

  • i love the 50mm lens. for someone with a photography degree you don’t post that many photos of your day to day! i would love to see more on a regular basis 1) bc i’m curious 2) bc i would love any photography tips 3) the one friend that i have that majored in photography used to always take photos every where she went and i loved seeing simple, monotonous things be turned into beautiful photographs. like a bouquet of flowers :)

    • I don’t, you’re right! I have two failed attempts at a 365 project as you know, in which I attempted to document my day to day. The problem is I tend to find it boring; I do the same shit day in and day out. Wake up, shower, walk dog, subway, work, subway, home, walk dog, dinner, tv, bed. Woo! Who wouldn’t want photographs of that? ;) I should/will do a “Day in the Life” thing one day, if you want. That could be fun if we all do one and then we could see the differences between our daily lives! xo

  • Such pretty colours (and photos).

    • Thanks, T! xo

  • I get these for myself at TJs all the time! They seem to last much longer than other flowers. Beautiful photography too!

    • Thank you, Santa! They really do last much longer than other flowers, you’re right. I don’t know why, but that’s one of my favorite things about them (aside from how pretty they are!) xo

  • these are beautiful!!

    • Thank you, Petra!! xo
