Two Years

Two years ago today, a lonely, unemployed girl drunkenly decided to start a blog. That girl was me (thankfully, for my liver’s sake, I became employed just a month after) and that was this blog. I’ve now been blogging for two whole years, which is both crazy and surprising to me. It’s also my darling Annie’s birthday today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNIE!), which I couldn’t have known when I started blogging, but that means we are inextricably linked forever in bloggy friendship.

In the past two years, I’ve gotten a dog, been to Belgium, successfully stalked and met Gary Oldman, started writing a book, attempted a 365 project twice, shopped a lot, and met some wonderful people. This year is looking really bright for me, especially considering I’m leaving for Paris in less than a month OH MY GOD. I have some exciting things coming up, and I’m curious to see where the next year takes me. Of course, I’ll be blogging the entire time, filling your browsers with macarons and awkward Gary Oldman musings. I’m so grateful to each and every single one of you for stopping by and filling my day with joy, because really, that’s what you do.

Happy 2 Years, like/want/need. I love this little blog so, so much.

PS. My most viewed post.

PPS. This is also my 410th post. WHOA.

  1. Happy Anniversary! Oh, happy happy day for all of us! I, for one, am so glad that you lost that job so you were drunk and unemployed and could start a blog for all of us to enjoy, FOR REALS! Keep on keeping on, girlie! I don’t know what I’d do without you! XO

    1. Thank you so much, L! Yeah, it was a pretty positive chain of events, I must say ;) I’m so happy to know you! xoxo

  2. Happy Blog Birthday to you Erin. And. of course, thanks to Annie for the introduction ;-) What a year, hey?! And we got to meet up, which is really, really, really, especially cool. Keep up the good work, your posts always make me chuckle.
I wonder what this year will bring for you? That’s so exciting a prospect, hey
    Much love x

    1. We did!! We met and it was fantastic and wonderful except for the part that Annie secretly hated us for it afterwards :) See? It’s reasons like that I love blogging! I’ve met you & Lauren in “real life” all from just meeting on a blog! Pretty magical stuff, that. xoxo

      1. Yeay happy birthday to you and to me! I love that I might get a shout out every year :)) Must have been my anniversary recently too then? Or was I after you, I’ve forgotten.
I still can’t believe you’ve not missed one post in all that time you crazy girl, you have a very strong work ethic!
So glad I found you and one i day I want to meet you!!! xxx

  3. Erin – happiest and bloggiest anniversary to you and here’s to many many more years. It’s so wonderful to have met you and I’ll be the first to admit that I’d be lost in the candles / blankets arena without your guidance.

    1. Hahah, thank you Rooth! I’m so grateful to know you, too. More blankets and candles in year 3, I promise! xoxo

  4. Happy blog birthday, duckie! How will you be celebrating, I wonder? Might I suggest that you – somehow – include all your favourite things/people: BF, Gary, Paris and macarons?

Your posts sometimes make me smile, guffaw quite often, occasionally bring a tear to my eye and – yes – have been known to prompt me to reach for my wallet. Here’s to many, many more my sweet. xo

    P.S. 410th? Seriously?! Wow.

    1. Haha aww, Chi! Well I’m happy about all of that except for the fact that I’ve rubbed my shopping addiction off on you! Sorry about that… ;) I’m so happy to have met you along the way! I always look forward to our little interactions! xoxo

  5. happy blogaversary! like/want/need is a pretty great name to come up with while drunk. i am impressed! but then you always impress me with your wit and humor, and your gift of story telling, and grammar skills, and how very, very kind you are. i just adore you in every way. xoxoxo

    1. Good lord. Now I’m all teary eyed! How did you get to be so sweet? HOW? Can I steal your magic? I wish I were even a little bit as kind as you, darling. I’m so happy to have met you and to have you along for the ride. xoxoxo (+ xoxoxo)

    1. You didn’t! Sue! That’s incredible of you, but I feel like I’ve wasted your time! Haha. My early posts are nothing to write home about :) I’m so happy we’re friends! You always find the neatest little treasures (maybe it’s YOU who’s the Internet Squirrel after all!). That map class looks like something I need to investigate. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do those!! xoxo

  6. Hurray for two years of like/want/need! It is such a great name for a blog, so many times that is exactly what I am thinking reading one of your posts. And 410 posts? Wow! I am still below 300 and have been blogging a year longer…You should celebrate with a glass (bottle?) of Vinho Verde tonight! xx

    1. Haha, thanks Nina! And you have a way more normal and comfortable blogging schedule than I do and you don’t mind taking a break if you need it. I’m insane. That’s the only reason I have so many posts, haha. One of these days I’m going to come estate sale shopping with you and Santa! That would be so much fun. xoxo

    1. Haha, I don’t know if I have 410 more posts in me but I guess we’ll see! Paris should fill up about, oh, 150 of them ;) Thanks so much for your support, Santa! xoxo

  7. Happy, happy two years, Erin! (And happy, happy birthday, Annie!) That really is some exciting stuff. I can’t wait to see what another year of blogging has in store for you. All good things, I predict.
I’ve just been catching up on things. I feel like I’ve been away for so long. Well, in blog land I HAVE been away a long time. So, here’s what I was thinking while I was playing catch up: Let’s go halves on that amazing Paris apartment. You can definitely have it in the spring because spring time in Paris is the best, right? I love your new Matte Stephens’ print. It’s perfect, and I quite like it right where you have it, leaning against the wall on the night stand. (I’m a huge fan of framed art leaning against a wall.)
(Wait, I’m at the crescendo of the Cinema Paradiso song – SO beautiful!)
    Happy to be back.
PS~Red Dwarf: Needs further investigation. ;)

    1. You are super efficient and quite the catcher-upper! Haha, I’m impressed, especially right after your vacation! Welcome home again, by the way!! Happy to have you back :)
Let’s go halfsies on that apartment. I’ll even go in the winter, Paris is amazing year round (I’m hoping this is correct as I’ll be there in technically the winter!) Thank you for sticking around this long and I can’t wait for the next year for all of us. Big things are coming!
Definitely look into Red Dwarf. It’s not for everyone, but it is a hoot if you get into it! xoxo

  8. Hurrah! I don’t remember how I stumbled across your blog, but I’m glad I did. My life would be a GO/macaroonless husk were it not for you.

    1. Erm, you stumbled onto it because I lurked on you hardcore for a while :) No shame! It worked out though, because you sent me that amazing 17eme map and I …. did nothing for you. Call it even? Yay! xoxo
