Tuesday Tunes

I’m overtired and still feel hungover from a weekend of straight drinking with Anna and Audrey and I have a dentist appointment this morning to have a wear-facet filled before it turns into a cavity and I’m grouchy and did I mention tired? French class was great last night, though. I can’t believe we’re not even halfway through the term, my head feels so dense avec le passé composé. Je n’ai rien appris! Next Monday, since all of us have off for MLK Jr. Day, our teacher suggested we move the class up to 10am and have brunch at Le Pain Quotidien in town. Um, oui merci. I’m already looking forward to level 104 and eventually conquering tout les classes. But first I have to get in the habit of not waiting until the night I have class to do my homework.

Today’s song is one I can’t believe I haven’t shared already. It’s dance-y and fun and totally out of my league when it comes to music, so you won’t believe me when I tell you I discovered M83 myself a year ago. I’m not cool enough, I know.

And because I can’t resist, here’s an amazing picture of a kitten in sunglasses:

The moral of this post is: sometimes, a lame post is worse than no post at all.

  1. Is that kitten even real??
Have you had tarte tatin at LPQ, it’s really darn good. and the hot chocolate is awesome. i have one every time I go to the hairdresser as it’s in the same building. Yum!

    1. Totally real, and I’m on a mission to steal him. If I could guarantee he’d stay that size forever, that is. I’ve only ever had brioche bread pudding and croissants and tea at LPQ. I don’t know how much we’re actually going to learn not being in a classroom setting, but I’m still excited!

  2. i feel ya, my posts lately have not been the best. i have been tired for the last 3 weeks and not much drinking involved at all – if there had been, yikes.

if all cats looked like that i might like them. and again, i am less cool because i don’t think i have ever heard of this m83 you speak of.

    1. Oh pishposh, your posts have been amazing. You can string together more than 5 words and don’t have to resort to cat photos! Automatic win on your part ;) Yeah, cats aren’t really my thing, I’ve always been a dog person. But COME ON with that face! xo

  3. Such a great song, Erin! Is it officially a classic yet. ;) Don’t you just love when you’re taking a class and the teacher announces a field trip? I always got really excited when that happened (50 years ago). Ha! Well, hang in there, Erin. These days I can’t even get a “lame” post up. Ugh!

    1. Haha, I doubt it was 50 years ago, otherwise I’m going to need the name of whatever miracle cream you’ve been using. I’m very excited for the field trip, even though the café is right across the street from the building where we have French class, so it’s not the biggest excursion. I’m happy to not have it at night, though, as a change of pace! It’s from 7:30-9:30 on Mondays, and all 6 of us in the class are ostensibly zonked by the time we even get there. Hopefully we’ll be perkier at 10am on Monday! xo

  4. This video is not available for play in this country aparently….

Oooh a field trip, how exciting, so much nicer than a classroom. How cool will that be, you all speaking French in LPQ, so authentic :-)

Hope you are feeling better now and that tooth isn’t playing you up x

    1. Booo. See if you can find M83 Midnight City on a version that DOES know how to cross bodies of water. It’s a good song!

Haha, I would have recommended Parc, my favorite French bistro, but it’s like 4 times the cost and I think that might have been met with a little bit of skepticism. :)

Thanks, doll! The tooth made half my face numb for a good portion of the day. I was drinking out of straws and being made fun of by my cubemates. Haha. Totally justified. But I’m all better now! xoxo
