Like A Picture

You’re getting this week’s Like A Picture early because I said so. You’ll take it and you’ll like it. I found this one sitting on my computer, all jazzed and ready to go. Who knows when I made it, it’s a mystery. I must have been on a hot streak and figured I was doing myself a favor in prepping early. Instead, all it accomplished was me promptly forgetting about it until last night. Oops. At least I know now that my powers of internet-scouring work in reverse, too; I got to track down the blanket and candle sources from memory. Thankfully, I have a mind like a steel trap and my dedication to this series is strong. And weird.

1. Blanket / 2. Candle / 3. Picture

Does it even need to be said that I found that picture from here? I love the slate color and the texture of the blanket, it picks up the folds of the statue perfectly. That candle is a scent from Capri Blue I’ve never smelled before (I’m a Volcano girl, myself) but I love the glass jar. My friend Anna asked me the other day, “Why is it always a blanket and a candle?” Fair question, but the short answer is that I’m a hoarder of both, and my addiction to throw blankets is sustained because Fitz keeps eating through all of them.

  • Lovely! But why do those statues have no heads? Creepy xx

    • The Venus de Milo doesn’t have a head either! Or arms :)

      • Pissing my pants with laughter :) The venus de milo has a head!!! No arms though. Fat lot of use she was to anyone. What kind of crappy statue wouldn’t have a head or arms either? xx

        • Oh my god, I TOTALLY MEANT “Winged Victory!” I swear! I’m so out of it today. The Art Gods are going to punish me for this. No arms, no head! Take that, Bird!

          • is it lame that i fully intend to spend my barneys gift card on a diptyque candle?! i totally agree about the typography, and i can’t wait to store my makeup brushes in it once i finish burning it ;) now i just have to pick the scent!

            • That’s not lame at all! That’s my intent, too, once mine is all used up. I bought Rosamundi, it’s floral and rich and incredible. I’d recommend it if you can’t decide on a scent! It’s limited edition and the jar is more decorative than the regular ones, if that sways you :)

          • But that weird thing has wings and you can’t very well have wings and arms (can you?!).

            • I don’t know why I find that so funny but I’m sitting here with tears streaming down my face again. Like thanksgiving and the flamingos. You are so brilliant!

              • If by “brilliant” you mean totally stupid, then yes. What American gets the date of Thanksgiving wrong? Who forgets what flamingoes are? Ugh. I swear, I’m actually intelligent in real life. xo

  • And the one that does have a head doesn’t have a nose! I love the shades of gray…I can’t believe I just wrote that…but that particular shade of gray does NOT conjure up Capri Blue for me. That candle looks more like, oh, I don’t know, Nantucket Rain or somesuch.

    • See, gray is good! Gray is my favorite color, believe it or not. I love the hues in that photo, the grays almost look blue! I’m with you, Capri Blue seems more summery and beachy to me than moody gray museum :)

  • Wow, thanks for the introduction to that tumblr. Now I’m off to waste half an hour :)

    • Half? Ooh, girl, you’re in for a longer stretch than that!

  • I too have an affinity for cozy throws and candles (I’m a Diptyque gal). Always have to have a throw on our couch to conceal the insane amount of dog hair left behind by Clementine and Noodle. Lovely post!

    • Diptyque! I have the Rosamundi scent right now (just haven’t figured out how to work it into one of these yet!) but love them all so much. I think it’s the typography on the glass. Your dogs names are so adorable! Clementine and Noodle! xoxo

  • I don’t know which I like better – the post or the banter that follows. Ah, this reminds me of the good ol’ days when you and Bird would go at it like sisters. ;) I’m definitely more of a blue-gray fan, rather than green-gray or purple-gray. So, the above looks all good to me.
I wondering if you pulled the trigger on the CB2 chair and ottoman…That throw and candle would complement the chair very nicely.
PS~I just used one of your PS tutorials for something. I tell you, it’s the gift that keeps on giving. ;)

    • We used to go at it?? I hope no one assumed we were getting contentious! It’s all in good spirit, definitely light-hearted. I wouldn’t mind having Bird as a sister :)
Blue-gray is my favorite shade, too. Grays can go so many different ways, can’t they? I haven’t bought the chair/ottoman set (yet!) because I’m still trying to rationalize it. But I love your encouragement! Thanks, T xo
LOVE that you used one of my tutorials! That makes me so happy, you have no idea.

      • Oh T you are so right, we’ve all got so serious lately haven’t we? What happened to fun blogging, trying to make people laugh? :(
Erin you’d be awesome as a sister. Older. Obvs.

  • Gray is one of my favorite colors, you totally nailed it with this post! I need to have the candle and this one too. It was a suggestion on the Anthropologie website. They knew I might like it…damn I’m going to load up my shopping cart ;)
