Tuesday Tunes

I’m beyond sorry for the lapse here, you guys. I really don’t know what happened. I have lots to share, but since today is Tuesday, how about we break it down with some Tuesday Tunes?

Yesterday, my lovely friend Anna and I took a drive with the top down on her convertible to do some serious Columbus Day shopping, since we had the day off work. I dropped an obscene amount of money at the J Crew Factory store, but oh man was it worth it! I am also the proud owner of my first piece of Le Creuset cookware (hello, gorgeous tea kettle!) and a gorgeous pair of heavy wool trouser pants for the impending cold-weather.

Anyway, Anna and I have very similar taste in music (thank god, because the drive was not short, and can you imagine how inconvenient it would have been to throw myself over the side of the car if she insisted on blasting Insane Clown Posse or something?). Here are two songs I’ve been loving recently.

I loved Ingrid Michaelson enough before I heard this song, but now I just love her even more. I have no idea what is going in this video, but this song has been stuck in my head ever since we played in the car yesterday  and it’s so damn catchy with a slightly dark element in there, too. Look at me, talking about music like I have any clue what I’m talking about. All you need to know about this girl is that she’s the genius behind this adorable song and she gives girls-in-glasses a good name!

Look, judge me as harshly as you’d like, but this song is universally loved and I defy you to tell me otherwise. This song came on at the bar I stopped in on Friday night and the place went nuts. I then played it on repeat on my laptop while I cleaned the kitchen over the weekend. If this song doesn’t just get you singing along and loving every oh-so-80’s moment of it, then maybe you didn’t hear the line, “As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympia above the Serengeti.” Or that fantastic chime-y bit at the end? This song is perfect for fall (“I BLESS THE RAAAIN!!”). It’s actually perfect for every season, all the time. Also, how many people were actually IN Toto??

Happy Tuesday, kiddos! I’ll be back tomorrow with some delicious interiors inspiration for your hump day.

  • The Serengeti line in Africa is SO dope- they way they cram in the extra syllable and when you sing along you totally have to make sure you have enough air in your lungs to get it all out in one breath?

    Yeahhh….awesome. Toto DROPS IT.

    • I love that after you sing that line along you have to take a huuuuge deep breath. Toto makes you work for it!
